Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a new measurement and control network, whichhas the character of flexible deployment. A wide range of application value makes it a hotresearch topic. For the energy-constrained WSN, the topology control based on the poweradjustment can not only reduce the energy consumption and extend the network lifetime,but also improve the efficiency of MAC protocols and routing protocols. Nevertheless,the increasing interference of wireless network greatly limits the energy efficiency oftopology control. However, the channel allocation technology is an effective way toreduce the competition and interference among nodes. Thus, the study on the WSNtopology optimization algorithm based on power control and channel allocation hasimportant theoretical and scientific significance for promoting the development of WSN.In this paper, the topology optimization problems aimed at the single-channel WSNand multi-channel WSN are studied respectively. The specific studies are as follows:(1) The relevant basic knowledge of single-channel topology optimization andmulti-channel allocation is studied. The drawbacks of the existing algorithms of topologyoptimization and channel allocation are analyzed. Then the electromagnetic waves’transmission propagation model and the interference model are introduced to provide abasis for the topology optimization algorithm design and the calculation of minimumpower required between nodes and the network interference.(2) To solve the problem that too much information exchange in the traditional gameprocess will consume more energy, we utilize the thought of virtual game to construct thetopology optimization virtual game model, which considers the effects of node power andresidual energy on the network lifetime; and then on the basis of the virtual game model,we design an energy-balanced topology optimization algorithm based on power controlfor the single-channel WSN. The theoretical analysis and the simulation results show thatthis algorithm can effectively reduce the information complexity, balance the energyconsumption and prolong the network lifetime.(3) Aimed at the problem that network interference is increasing, we make use of multi-channel technology and consider the factors of node power, residual energy andchannel allocation to build the multi-channel topology optimization game model. Andthen fully considering the interactions between power control and channel allocation, themulti-channel WSN topology optimization algorithm based on the cooperative control ofpower control and channel allocation is proposed. At last, we evaluate the algorithm bytheoretical analysis and simulation experiment, which proves that the algorithm canfurther improve the energy efficiency while reducing the network interference.Additionally, it also has the features of fair allocation and high utilization of channels.
