With the rapid development of LED, how to rapidly and correctly gain lens, achieving a certain function, has increasingly become a hot topic. For this, in this paper, according to the current domestic and foreign research method for optical design, the main achievements made as follows:For the condition of LED radiation pattern, based on the independent development software-digitizer, source datasheets are obtained by LED space angular intensity distribution map. This paper proposes nonlinear regression Levenberg-Marquart method, seeking corresponding step of data, altering the parameters of radiation pattern equation. Meanwhile, using two estimation criterions, root mean square (RMS) and normalized cross correlation (NCC), rebuild the accuracy of LED radiation pattern equation. Results show RMS less than1%, NCC higher than100%. This method provies convenience for lenses design.For the LED lens achieving a certain lighting effect, based on geometrical optics and non imaging optics, this paper designs and computes LED lens in the form of vector, make a research on molding and simulating by3D software and optic software, besides, making corresponding software module by visual object-oriented programming software. Users just need to input the lens’initial value in the software module, then the corresponding line data of lens are obtained. Import the line data to3D software or optic software, lens entities are gained. This paper focus on the irradiance distribution of point source, extended source and different intensity distribution of LED applied to the designed and computed lens, and the improved calculation method, meanwhile, proposes a creative optical structure. They are verified by professional optical software. Combining the corresponding lens, achieving rectangular irradiance distribution, with Cree LED and OSRAM LED respectively and simulating, the result shows the irradiance distribution on the target region is uniform and the size of illumination area satisfies the design requirement.For the TIR lens’dispersion phenomenon equipped with LED, this paper proposes using compound eye eliminates the TIR lens’dispersion, and have a research on the effect of compound eye on the dispersion. The result shows this method decreaces the dispersion phenomenon.
