Infrared video image processing system is very important for infrared camerasystems by fulfilling collecting, analyzing, and driving the infrared image. In the paper,based on FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) hardware environment and Quartusâ…ˇsoftware platforms, a digital processing system is designed. The system achieves thefunction of asynchronous communication by Niosâ…ˇ. Experiments have been done to testthe performance of the infrared video image processing system. The results show that thedesigned system can realize functions such as image acquisition, image processing andimage output. The researched work is listed as follows:(1) The overall system is described, including the framework of the designed infraredvideo image processing system and the layout of all circuit boards.(2) The system hardware platform is designed. And in this platform, many functionalcircuits such as infrared image acquisition circuit, image processing circuit, powermanagement circuit and asynchronous communication circuit are accomplished.(3) The software of the imaging system is designed by Verilog HDL(hardwaredescription language) language, including the non-uniformity correction module, imageenhancement module and bad pixel correction module. Most importantly, an improvedbad pixel correction algorithm was proposed.(4) Finally experiments are finished and the functions of systems are tested andevaluated.
