In the process of inheriting and protecting non-material cultural heritage, televisionmedia, being the main type of mass media, should undertake its historical and culturalresponsibility. The multiple symbol, such as vision and audition transmissioncharacteristics, has unique advantage in the inheritance and protection of non-materialheritage. China is abundant with outstanding non-material heritage which providetelevision programs with a natural database. In recent years, there emerge sometelevision programs whose themes are on non-material heritage, like CCTV’s nativeland and Tian Jin TV’s gleaning-protection etc. For a better implementation oftelevision program’s role as an heir and protector and at the same time realize non-material heritage’s feedback to television programs, this thesis would try to discuss anddefine the concept of non-material heritage television program, and give a historicalreview of some TV columns related to non material heritage. After the analysis of suchtelevision programs, some problems have been found, namely, no fixed broadcastplatform, and monotonous expression way. The current non-material heritage televisionprograms may focus on the columnization and improve the interaction between theprogram and the audience, meanwhile enrich the expression ways. A better promotionfor the inheritance, protection and exploration of non-material cultural heritage and thedevelopment of the television program itself should be achieved on the basis ofenriching television programs by non material cultural heritage.
