Medical image3-d visualization technology is one of the most active research points inthe international medical imaging field. It can render objects truly and visually, also showaccurate spatial information of a specific interest area of lesions clearly interactwith cuttingtechnology. It has a wide range of application requirements and research space in clinicaldiagnosis and in the process of medical teaching and treatment. Therefore, targeted researchhas a strong academic value and wide application prospect.Based on the depth learning of3-d visualization theory algorithms and familiar with thecharacteristics of programming tools, this paper focus on MC(Marching Cubes) algorithm andRC(Ray Casting) algorithm. This two algorithms were optimized and realized on the basis ofanalyzing the principles of the appropriate algorithms which provides a strong imagingsupport for doctors’ clinical diagnosis and treatment activities. Meanwhile, as the scarcity andincreasingly expensive of human specimens, it can effectively help students fully understandthe spatial location and structure information of tissues and organs both on the medicalscientific research and teaching aspects.Combined with the needs of clinical diagnosis practice and based on thethree-dimensional reconstruction, this paper focused on multiple plane cutting (coronal,sagittal, axial plane), interactions principle and realization of process of any plane cutting andrectangular cutting which can well meet different needs in clinical and scientific researchingand teaching. It can maximize the use of medical imaging information to provide a strongimaging technical support on the process of the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.A medical image visualization software were developed on the platform of Visual Studio2005combined with VTK(Visualization Toolkit), ITK(Insight Segmentation and RegistrationToolkit)which mainly achieved to draw surface and three-dimension volume rendering basedon DICOM image sequence and provides a number of flexible and convenient interactiveoperations such as cutting for image reconstruction. Research work in this paper laid a solidtechnical foundation for the implementation of the clinical utility system and has a very goodprospects and practical significance.
