At present, Information Technology has been into the all business areas ofcommercial banks and financial institutions. Finance institutions have been becomedan industry which is highly concentrated and dependent on the IT. With theacceleration of China’s financial information construction, IT promotes businessdevelopment and the data storage needs also grows exponentially. How to improvedata storage efficiency and ensure information security has become an importantfactor to develop the banking industry healthily.The storage system in traditional banking financial institutions faced with lots ofproblem, such as slow transfer speed, low space utilization, less security and complexheterogeneous systems management. In recent years, with the development ofcomputer technology, virtualization technology becomes be used in more financialinstitutions. Especially in the mass data processing, storage virtualization havehigh-efficiency, high safety and low cost advantages and is more suitable for thebanking. Storage virtualization technology can not only meet the storage needs ofbusiness growth, but also reducing storage costs and energy consumption effectivelyin banking.This article is based on storage virtualization technology. I proposed multi-levelstorage virtualization system architecture which aims at unique industry norms forbanking industry, laws and regulations and other requirements. The design is not onlyable to meet the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the basic storageprinciples, but also adjust and optimize strategy according to banking industryrequirement. Automated Storage Tiering technology can identify the data call rate.High call rate data will be transferred automatically to the high-speed disk to improve the storage I/O performance. Deduplication technology can scan and removeduplicate data in storage system idle time to save the storage space. Snapshot and datamirror technology can make data backup and restore flexible. Dynamic volume andunified storage management technology make storage deployment and managementsimplify. Comparing to traditional storage systems, the overall efficiency of thestorage virtualization system can be improved more than50%with same cost.Efficient and reliable data processing is very important for banking. Dataprocessing not only affects the bank’s reputation and customer satisfaction, but also tothe entire country’s financial system. Therefore, the implementation of storagevirtualization is innovation in the banking data storage. It is a new technologydirection to develop the storage system.In order to achieve the storage virtualization in the bank, I focus on these fields inthis thesis:1) Study bank data storage standards and related requirements, to help analysingthe input attributes.2) Research data store procedure to help understand the technical background ofthe data storage.3) Research traditional storage systems and storage virtualization technologyinnovations and advantages, and to find out approachable storage virtualizationsystem structure.4) Design the storage virtualization system for bank and realize and test thesystem.In the analysis process, we study the bank laws and industry standards for bankingdata processing. And then we analyze and summarize the key points of theserequirements. After we design the storage virtualization model, we could verify themodel with actual data from Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Credit Card Center.Based on the test results, the system shows the accuracy of the model.
