Passive sonar system make use of the target noise received from the bigsize acoustic transducer array to estimate the target distance and location. For passive sonar system will not transmit sound wave while working, itwas equipped with the submarine amountly. The typical acoustic transducerarray arrangement of modern submarine is attaching the acoustic transducerto the submarine side face which constitute uniformly-spaced three partialmatrix. The three partial matrix on the port and starboard take charge of thetarget ranging around the submarine, and this is such the type of sonarsystem that our discuss. The main work of this thesis is:1. Traditional passive sonar system has problem for the short-rangetagets ranging blurring. Based on the combination of theory withexperimention, we improve the system as follow: Categorization of a targetranging method according to the taget’s distance from the submarine. Thesystem choose direct measurement method with short-range target rangingfor it has high noise intensity, high SNR, obvious coherent pule. Howeverthe long-range target’s situation is opposite, so the system will chooseK-PDM for it. These two methods combition make the sonar systemomnidistance ranging come true.2. Traditional passive sonar system has poor effect in tracking highspeed target underwater because of using Kalman filter which cause serioustime Lagged. On the basis of relevant analyzes, this paper adopt the adaptivenoise canceller as post filter, which make the system have the abillity of tracking high speed target. The revised design of this paper was proved right and effective aftersimulation experiment. The revised design will greatly improved traditionalsonar system performance which is a matter of great significance in military.
