Space TWT which is known as an important microwave amplifier, is widelyused in communication satellite. It is the key components of space-borne syntheticradar and space-borne forwarders. It is very difficult to promote performance ofTWT in power, gain, efficiency, and bandwidth by traditional design method basedon experience. The CAD technology has become an important method to improvethe capability of Space TWT.In this thesis, the electron gun and slow wave system of helix-TWT is designedand simulated with the software, and the TWT sample which based on designresults is tested. The main achievements of this dissertation can be concluded asfollows:1. The electron gun is designed and simulated, and its performance parametersare presented. And the various deviations which have impact on the performance ofelectron gun are detailed studied.2. The slow wave structure is designed and simulated, and its color scatteringcharacteristic curve and coupling impedance are detailed analyzed. The periodicpermanent magnet focusing system is simulated and optimized, and the staticmagnetic field is presented. The results of Interaction from PIC simulation showthat the output power is more than58.1W and distortion of gain is less than2%atworking frequency.3. The sample is tested and the test results show that this device has the outputpower of more than45W, the electronic efficiency of mare than12.6%at workingfrequency. The difference between the simulation result and test result is analyzed.
