The Research On Micro-blog’s Functions

With the rapid development of society and economy and continuousinnovation of Internet technology, the number of network user grows fast. The impactof network can be seen in every aspect of our lives. Micro-blog only takes fourteenmonths to achieve great communication effects. Applying concerned theories incommunication, psychology and other domains, taking focus incidents appeared onSina Weibo (a Chinese micro-blogging website) as case study, this article trulypresents micro-blog’s charm and its communication functions. Meanwhile, byrevealing micro-blog’s negative sides, such as violence on the Internet andrumor-spreading, we try to find reasonable regulation strategies to minimize thesedamages from three aspects, society, media and netizen.By the research of this thesis, we intend to improve micro-blog’s ability, asa social media, to collect and reflect public sentiments. Therefore, micro-blog canbetter guide public opinion and enhance its supervision. This article also intends tobetter achieve micro-blog’s interactive essence, building an individuals’ platform forsocial expression and a favorable public opinion atmosphere.This research looks into micro-blog from a social media angle andgeneralizes Sina Weibo’s rise, rapid growth and its functions thoroughly. Sina Weiboprovides an impetus for Chinese micro-blog’s development, therefore ignites aso-called ‘minor revolution’ in media. This article thoroughly explains micro-blog’scommunication function, intending to maximize micro-blog’s positive functions.
