In recent years, with the development of communication systems, the demanding for theperformance and volume of antenna is very high. The microstrip antennas, which can beintegrated and their volume are small, have been received widely attentions by the antennaresearchers. The printed slot antenna is one kind of this antenna, which exactly meets thedevelopment trend and requirements of modern wireless communication system development,therefore the researches for printed slot antenna have the positive significance. This papermainly focuses on the printed slot antenna analysis and researches.Firstly, the background and significance of the printed slot antenna is described in thispaper, and the analysis of the history of development and research situation for microstrip slotantenna, ultra-wideband printed slot antenna, and multi-band printed slot antenna are given.Then the microstrip antennas elementary theories, basic classifications, and antenna’s propertyparameters and feed modes are introduced. Slot antenna’s elementary theories, analysismethods, and impedance computational methods are elaborated. Finally, three kinds of newultra-wide band printed slot antennas and two kinds of dual-frequency printed slot antennasare proposed in the paper, and their respective performances and the simulation results havebeen analyzed.In this paper three kinds of ultra-wide band printed slot antennas, which make up of threedifferent shape coplanar waveguide (CPW, Coplanar Waveguide) feed shapes, are proposedfor ultra-wide band antenna research, and the analysis of antenna’s design mentalities is given,also the relationship of their parameters and the performance is studied. Three kinds ofultra-wide band antennas are make of different slot structures and different feed structures,their impedance bandwidths are wide (≥110%) which are all in line with civilianultra-wideband standards of the FCC(Federal Communications Commission) rules. Theantennas’ volumes are small, and their manufacturing tolerances is undemanding, thedirectional diagram maintained isotropic in the frequency band. So, the antennas can beapplied in the general ultra-wide band system.In this paper two kinds of new dual-frequency printed slot antennas are proposed fordual-frequency antenna research: one is the window shape slit dual-frequency printed slotantenna and the other one is U shape branch triangle slit dual-frequency printed slot antenna. Two kinds of antennas both use the microstrip feed, but their radiating surface’s slits and theinternal knottiness are different. The primary structure factors of influencing antennas’resonance frequencies are mainly analyzed, the effects of antenna’s current distributions onthe antenna resonance points and the antenna patterns are studied in the paper. These twokinds of printed slot dual-frequency antennas are cover WLAN(2.4/5.2/5.8GHz) andWiMax(2.5/5.5GHz) frequency band in the article, and their directional diagrams maintaingood isotropic in the band.
