Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (ITEM) is the Handbook of technical content isconverted to digital, to compile and to interactively access through computer and otherequipment to access content show repair technicians or system operator. It has beenextensively utilized in defense equipment, aerospace and shipping industry by many counties.As a result of various IETM standards appearing in the development process of IETM, theremust be heterogeneous structures exiting among those standards. On the basis of thesedifferent standers, data organization and management of equipment and technology will leadto the IETM data resources independent from each other and form many disconnectedinformation islands. Thus, how to integrate data from different standards becomes a keytopic in the development of IETM. The main research work of this article is as follows:This article studied and analyzed related technical standards of IETM, highly focusingon the standard of S1000D data source model structure, as well as technical information invarious stages of the S1000D data sources manifestations. Also, the study of the modelstructure of IETM data source and the relational database storage model based on the U.S.military standard was present. By comparing and analyzing heterogeneous structures of IETMbetween S1000D and U.S. military standards, a data integration solution framework based onIETM itself was designed. The center module function of this framework was descripted. Theresearch on IETM standards-based ontology building method and ontology library buildingmethod were carried out. The research on specific elements in IETMs was carried out. Themapping scheme of elements based on IETM ontology was designed, and a correspondingmapping transition algorithm was given out. The ontology parsing based on IETM elementswas carried, and a set of computer-readable ontology descripting model with the design andimplementation of the parser was proposed. A non-XML data source mapping was alsostudied and designed.In this article, the rates of elements conversion and property conversion are treated asindicators to measure the successful rate of integrated source data between the S1000D andU.S. military standards.
