Single carrier frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) technique has many advantagessuch as excellent anti-multipath capability and be able to overcome the Shortcoming of thepeak to average power ratio of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing. While itscomplexity is much lower than the traditional time domain equalization at the same time.Therefore, many researchers attach great importance to research, its disadvantage is sensitiveto timing synchronization errors and frequency domain equalization technique plays a crucialrole to performance of the system, so this paper spends a lot of energy in researching itssynchronization and equalization techniques.At first, this article describes the characteristics of short-wave broadband wirelesschannel briefly, Secondly; this paper introduces the SC-FDE system model and derivationprocess of the mathematical principle for the system. IEEE802.16a standard recommendedSC-FDE and OFDM transmission scheme as short-wave broadband wireless communicationsystem; therefore, this article does an analysis to the two communication systems in-depth.Fully mastered the basic knowledge of the SC-FDE, the last focus of this article studiedthe synchronization algorithm and frequency domain equalization algorithm. In order tostudy synchronization algorithm, the article studies and analyzes several classical algorithmsfirstly. Then, I got a synchronization algorithm with good performance by madeimprovements on Traditional algorithm. And I verify the performance of the algorithm bysimulation results. At last, I research two typical frequency domain equalization algorithmwhich are least mean square algorithm and recursive least squares algorithm to study theequalization algorithm.Simulation results show that the improved timing synchronization algorithm has betterperformance than traditional timing synchronization, but the complexity of the improvedalgorithm is also higher than the traditional synchronization algorithms. The simulationresults of Equalization algorithm shows that the equalization performance of RLS algorithm isbetter than LMS algorithm and its convergence speed is faster. However, RLS algorithm isless stable than LMS algorithm and its complexity is much higher.
