Speech Communication Under The Vision Of Broadcasting And Hosting Art Professional Talent Training Mode Reform

The education of Broadcasting and Hosting Art, after going through a journey of nearly half a century in China, has established its complete teaching sequence:junior college education, undergraduate education, master education and doctor education. According to incomplete statistics, nearly200Chinese colleges and universities Broadcasting and Hosting Art have established the major of Broadcasting and Hosting Art, showing an unprecedented momentum of overheating growth, which has resulted in many problems demanding prompt solutions. For example, the theoretical construction is rather poor; the teaching is focused only on experience and skills, lacking broad academic perspectives; the distinction between education levels is not apparent, and the graduates are short of reserve force due to their relatively weak foundation.In the west, speech communication, with its more than2000years’academic practice and teaching tradition, provides significant reference to the education and research of broadcasting and hosting art. Speech communication, proceeding from the purpose of human communication, is the only two-way communication process. Its research subjects focus not only on the generating, receiving, techniques and interpretation of the human communication, but more importantly, on the language art, persuasion, discussion, conflict resolution and share of meaning in human communication. It explores a discourse mode, i.e., how to make best use of oral language and paralanguage to efficiently influence audience to change audience’s ideas, ideology, behaviors and actions.The Broadcasting and Hosting Art education in China focuses less on cultivating the students as "human beings", as what they should be in their future career, but rather on cultivating their power of lucid exposition through plenty of stylized practices. Differently, speech communication, regarding language generators as human beings, is intended to cultivate their powers of language generation, production, communication, feedback and revision powers. The speeches of announcers and anchors are the paragons of language application in society, and the communication in broadcasting and hosting is totally covered in speech communication, so the relationship between the announcers’and anchors’language communication and speech communication is that between the general and the particular. Therefore, the reexamination of broadcasting and hosting art education from the speech communication perspective can make it clear that it is a kind of speech communication education, which should follow the principle of regarding the students as its main subject; to cultivate the students’broadcasting and hosting capacity is to cultivate their speech communication capacity; speech communication can provide theoretical support and guide for the broadcasting and hosting art education.The speech communication perspective provides us a new train of thought for the reform of broadcasting and hosting art education. Broadcasting and hosting activities, a typical form of speech communication, is the combination of dominant trait of phoneme and recessive trait of lingual thinking. Hereby, we should lay equal stress on the phonation skills and speech communication theory, regard cultivating students’speech communication capacity, strengthen practical teaching, cultivate students’speech communication values of "I want to speak" and the professional ethics concept of "build up your creditability through your speeches, build up your integrity through your speeches, match your words with your words", and foster students’awareness of serving the public with their speech communication capacity, which will guarantee their inner motive and life force in the future broadcasting and hosting work. Guide students to take the announcers and anchors of broadcasting, TV, and network media as the major employment goals, at the same time, take public relations, marketing, press kits into consideration, in order to promote the speech communication talents, who have mastered the basic broadcasting and hosting theory and professional competence, to all-directionally serve the socialist market economy.In the future, the broadcasting and hosting education should stick to its specialized characteristics and lay stress on its interdisciplinary construction with speech communication, in order to enrich the education researches. We should.make full use of the existing strengthens, and fill the blank of research in speech communication. Try to avoid establishing the major of speech communication when the social division of labor and employment outlook are still not clear. We also should bring the subject’s function of serving the society into full play, and promote the general-knowledge education of speech communication to the society, in order to contribute creative work to improve the overall language proficiency of our country.
