As the rapid development of wireless mobile communications, a combination of different fields of technology, such as Information technology, multimedia and telecommunications technology, the various existing and future wireless access technology information will be co-existed and they are complementary and competed with each other, it is the next generation heterogeneous network characteristics. The mobile streaming media services are different of the general data transmission in the ubiquitous heterogeneous wireless networks. It needs to overcome network selection, handoff delay and packet loss among different networks. How to ensure the quality of mobile streaming media service in the process of handoff becomes a research focus recently.In order to ensure the mobile stream quality during the handover, it should to reduce the unnecessary handover, and improve the stability of the mobile stream, it also to consider all the relevant factors and select the most suitable handover network and timing. In this paper, the idea on the context-aware handover is to use the mobile node including network-related information, the mobile terminal and user information, and reduce the number of unnecessary handover through threshold prediction. It should consider the gathered information and the importance of the video frame type to select the most suitable target network and handover timing, so as to reduce the impact of mobile streaming media in the heterogeneous handover.This paper describes the theory of the network handover technology, the mobile streaming media in the wireless networks. For the handover shortcoming in the heterogeneous network based on the signal strength, we introduce the mobile streaming media handover based on the context-aware.it combine the heterogeneous network handover and mobile streaming media feature t, and select the most suitable handover network to improve the mobile streaming stability in the heterogeneous network handover process.Using the NS2simulation tool and Evalvid tool, we compare the network selection based on the signal strength and the network selection based on the context-aware mobile streaming. Through the analysis of the simulation results, the network handover based on the context-aware mobile streaming can be better able to adapt the wireless handover characteristics of the heterogeneous wireless networks, reduce the impact on the quality of mobile streaming media in the heterogeneous network handover process.
