Today is an information fast-developing age. The telephone, fax, Internet, cell phone,even the old-fashioned pager all supported the time developing powerfully by shrinking thedistance among people and speeding up the information transmission. At the beginning of21st century, blog, pod-cast, wiki the Internet words emerging with each passing dayshowing the age flying pace. As twitter advents and develops, a new Internet platformbegan getting popular at the starting of2007, which is micro-blog. The short140-wordmassage expresses the words you want to say in the simplest way. As the micro-blogservice supplier, Tencent, Sina, and other websites etc., are trying their best to extendingtheir clients amount at the modern age.The Expo2010made Shanghai, China attached the attention all over the word.However, the Expo is not so well-known as the Olympic Games. All kinds of media didtheir best to popularize the Expo, making it rooted in people’s mind.2010is taken as thefirst year of micro-blog, because micro-blog has started to develop rapidly since then.Tencent, Sina and other big websites take popularizing micro-blog as the prior task.Micro-blog became the most fashionable Internet activity suddenly in2010. Micro-blogplayed an invaluable role in promoting the image of Shanghai Expo2010.Almost all the websites have contributed to spreading over the Expo information, andtheir micro-blog played a pretty important role, but this thesis mainly focuses onresearching on Tencent. First above all, Tencent is the exclusive online senior sponsor ofthe Shanghai World Expo2010as the largest portal website in China. Its reports’ profession,informations’ authority, attention-on-the-Expo attitude, and the capital, technology, humanforce invented into the Expo are unmatchable for other websites. The effect harvested issurely the best. Secondly, Tencent is the first website providing the service similar tomicro-blog. Tencent had tried TaoTao, functioning like twitter before the test copy of Sinamicro-blog. Though TaoTao was not named like micro-blog, it was truly the prototype ofChinese micro-blog. Tencent served micro-blog formally now after years of efforts anddiligence. In the long-term exploration, Tencent experienced more than any other Chinesewebsites.The thesis aims at envision how will micro-blog develop via researching the Expo popularization pushed by it and what kind of communication influence does micro-bloghave. This can help provide the powerful reference to the big event popularization in thefuture.The researching target is analyzing the communication methods and characteristics ofmicro-blog, knowing the users’ real feeing, information cognition degree and opinionschanging. How and how much do people understand the Expo and how supportive they areto the Expo are the things I attention on. The content and statistics collection processingand analysis will reach the studying goal at last.The micro-blog users are netizens for micro-blog works on the basis of Internet.Tentent micro-blog users are Tenctent netizens as well. The biggest advantage is the hugeQQ user group, which could be used as the platform for the research to know how muchdegree the netizens know about the Expo. With the real face-to-face interview to the users,it is possible to know the micro-blog using condition.Tencent micro-blog users don’t only include the common netizens, but also thebroadcasting team, sister media, celebrities and some other high-ranking groups. It ispossible to see how many and how often these people send micro-blog, and what contentthey send to know the influence of it. For the non-Tencent-micro-blog-users, it is alsoaccessible. Knowing if they browse the micro blog recommended on the webpage is alsohelpful to my research.
