With the rising vehicle retention in the world, the market of navigator is facing anunprecedented prospect. However, the general problem is that it is difficult to operate thesoftware interfaces so as to increase users’ operation errors and cognitive burden. Becausethe design of the navigator is closely related to the drivers’ effective operation and safety,the paper aims to improve the usability of the software interface of automobile navigator byresearching the human factor design and the evaluation methods to the automobile navigator.The main research works are as follows:Firstly, the paper analyzes the principles and criteria about the evaluation for thesoftware interface of automobile navigator from4aspects of usability principles, dialogueprinciples, information presentation and dialogue modes. According to the results, theevaluation index system of software interface for automobile navigator is constructed; alsothe bottom quantitative and qualitative evaluation indexes are extracted.Secondly, the paper gives a quantitative evaluation to the subjective and objectiveindexes in the evaluation index system. At the same time, the weight of each bottomevaluation index is determined by using analytic hierarchy process method. According tothe evaluation index system about the software interface of automobile navigator, thehuman factor check-list about software interface of automobile navigator is constructed, andthe method of human factor check-list is applied into the evaluation of software interface ofautomobile navigator, also the analysis to the evaluation results is proposed.Thirdly, based on the technology of eye-tracking, the typical tasks eye-trackingexperiments are carried on the prototype software interface of automobile navigator.According to results of the eye-tracking experiments, the usability level of the prototypesoftware interface of the automobile navigator is evaluated.Finally, after integrating the results of the human factor check-list, the softwareinterface of automobile navigator is improved. By experimenting the typical eye-tracking onthe improved software interface again and comparing the data, it shows the usabilitypromotion of the improved software interface.
