Enterprise operations have become increasingly dependent on information technology withits continual development, many companies and individuals have stored the importantinformation on computer. Backing up and restoring data is a key to guarantee the security ofinformation, as once the data is destroyed, it will lead to serious loss. Therefore, in order toimprove the transmission efficiency, data needs to be compressed when transfer.The focus andachievements of this paper are as follows:1. According to the problem that the existing remote disaster tolerant products encrypt datain the data backup process, which can’t guarantee the local data security and influences backupefficiency. a new remote disaster recovery system based on folder monitoring is proposed. Thesystem can backup and recover data between client and server. The characteristics of the systemare that it can automatically encrypt files in monitoring folders, make the files stored as aciphertext, and there is no need to encrypt again in data backup to the server. This way can notonly implement local data storage safely, but also improve backup efficiency. The experimentalresults show that the proposed system can not only make an automatic encryption anddecryption of files in monitoring folder, but also backup and recover files effectively. At thesame time, the system neither needs to set up a dedicated line, nor has special requirements forcommunication networks, so the cost is low, and it can well satisfy the application needs forsmall corporations and institutions.2. As to the problem that the encryption algorithms in existing remote disaster recoverysystem are quite complex, making data encryption to be time consuming, the64-bits RC4encryption algorithm is used for file encryption, realization process of the algorithm is simple,and encryption is fast. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can notonly greatly improve the speed of file encryption, reduce the encryption time, but also satisfy security requirements of general corporation.3. In order to reduce the burden of the network in data transmission, it is necessary tocompress data in transmission. The lossless compression algorithm LZW is used in the system,the algorithm has adaptive ability, flexible application, and can effectively use characterfrequency redundancy to compress data. The experiment results demonstrate that the algorithmhas much faster compression speed and smaller compression ratio than any of other severaltypical compression algorithms, the application of the algorithm greatly improves the systemefficiency in backuping and recovering file.
