With the development of optoelectronic technique, people’s lives and work have been deeply changed. Semiconductor laser has an important application prospect such as military, medical treatment and industry production. But the beam of semiconductor laser is asymmetric, it’s very difficult to use semiconductor laser in the actual application. So we must collimate and shape the beam in order to meet the requirements of practical works. The major research aspect of this paper is the designed optical system by collimating and shaping.Based on beam shaping home and aboard, through comparing and analyzing the different programs, we choose non-spherical micro-lens arrays to collimate the beam, and use step mirrors (V-step) for beam shaping in this paper. According to the theoretical analysis above, a project of beam collimating and shaping can be designed. Through practicing, one can solve disadvantage questions such as low beam power, large beam divergence angle and light energy. So a semiconductor laser can be used more effectively.In this paper, four kinds of beam parameter products (BPP) will be presented to confirm the beam quality after beam collimating and shaping. The beam parameter products can be used to evaluate the beam qualities objectively. It can be said that it is the most effective method to evaluate the beam qualities by using BPP.This paper gives the argument direction detail from theoretical analysis to practicing application. Through the micro components designed to get a goal for beam collimating and shaping, so a high beam quality can be obtained.
