Organic thin film transistor (OTFT) has attracted research institutions and large enterprises’ attention because of its low cost, flexibility, and can be large area integrated. Based on the analysis of pentance OTFT’s operating principle, we introduced the material selection of active layer, insulating layer and electrode, the technology of substrate cleaning, thin film preparation and OTFT testing. We also proposed two OTFT electrical analytical models, elaborated its theory basis and derivation, and conducted a simulation to verify:Because of the movement of electrons in organic semiconductor materials is relatively disordered, the hopping theory is adapted to explain the relatively disordered movement of carriers. We proposed a DC electrical model for OTFT. The model is based on the VRH (Variable Range Hopping) transport theory, while it does not require the explicit definition of the threshold and saturation voltages. From the basic theory of VRH, we give the detailed derivation process of model formula and parameter extraction method. Because of an integral function is constructed in the parameters extraction process, the noise generated by the experimental data can be eliminated, and the simulation can get more accurate results.Using the UMEM (Unified Model and arameter Extraction Method), the electrical model of OTFT has been construced and the parameters were well extracted. This method in electric parameter extraction, We constructed a integral function which can eliminated the experimental noise, and the method is simple, applicable to all types of OTFT.Based on the Matlab software, the simulation of the two models for OTFT was performed. The simulation results showed that the two models can accurately simulate the transfer characteristics and output characteristics of OTFT and has certain significance for study and design of OTFT.
