The fan is the main mechanical equipment in underground mine for safe operation, whose performance directly affects the personal safety of the miners. Meanwhile, during the long time running, its performance will be impacted with aging and other factors. So it is important to test the fan regularly for high efficiency running. And efficiency is the key index of fan, so it is essential that the efficiency measure of fan for personnel security. At the same time, it has an important meaning that the high efficiency running of fan to saving energy and reducing resource cost for Enterprises.Numerous methods exist for measuring the efficiency of fan. But many of them have complicated testing process, and need dozen of the testing instruments to measure, such as the U type of pressure gauge. And many of them need disconnection the motor from loads for a no-load test, with high test cost and large impact on production in the measurement process of the motor efficiency. In addition, some fan efficiency testers exist, which price is more expensive, and can not be real-time processing and long-term measurement.According to the above situation, this paper has developed a set of portable fan efficiency tester, which determines large power motor efficiency without shutdown and a no-load test. It is a measuring instrument that based on measurement technology and computer technology, which is suitable for three-phase three-wire power, power factor and efficiency of measurement. The efficiency tester monitors the input voltage, input current of fan, transmitting the acquisition data to notebook computer. Then an equivalent circuit model of asynchronous motor using the improved Genetic Algorithm to identify equivalent circuit parameters calculates the motor efficiency. At the same time, the test data from intelligent pressure air quantity instrument is transmitted to the computer, and then calculate the efficiency of the fan and the unit efficiency. In addition, the energy balance process of unit fan was given a detailed analysis.The actual test process shows that the measuring instrument has some advantages compared with the traditional one, such as reliable measurement results, the real-time and reliability, simple operation, visual output, etc. It has achieved some functions that real-time measurement, display, real-time data storage and acquirement.
