The railway industry, as the pillar industry in transportation, plays a vital role in both economic development and the improvement of people’s living standards. Today, along with the advances in high technology and information networks, the development of the railway industry has taken on the features of the industrialization of information technology and the application of high technology. Train Communication Network (TCN), which is an important product promoted in the process of the development of the railway industry, serves as a vital technical means for efficient management and safe operation of trains. Furthermore, various countries have put TCN research on the list of IT research of country level. Although China has witnessed a robust development in TCN research, compared with advanced TCN technology abroad, it is, in terms of key equipment, in particular TCN gateway, still far from being said to be advanced. Therefore, the research on TCN gateway with excellent performance and independent intellectual property rights plays a vital role in improving China’s TCN technology, developing the railway industry, and meeting the market demand.The dissertation expounds on the research and design of a TCN gateway based on embedded technology, which connects the Ethernet bus and the MVB. The following are included in this dissertation:This dissertation introduces the MVB protocol and the Ethernet protocol.The overall framework of the hardware design of the TCN gateway is promoted, and the schematic diagram and the PCB layout of the gateway is designed. The TCN gateway, based on the analyses of its functions and design, consists of CPU board and MVB board.Secondly, the software of the gateway is designed and developed in this dissertation. Specifically, the firmware and interface functions of Ethernet controller ENC28J60, ferroelectric memory FM24C512and MVB controller are designed,Then, the uC/OS-II transplantation of the two controllers, namely, LPC2148and MB90F543G is completed, and the application software of CPU board and MVB board are designed based on the uC/OS-Ⅱ system.In the last, this dissertation provides a systematic testing platform and tests the performance of the TCN gateway. More specifically, a MVB stimulate software is designed to enable a MVB board to function to the standard of a networking test, so that PC sends signals to the gateway and at the same time monitors and analyzes the data received by a virtual MVB. The testing result shows that the designed gateway meets the desired requirerment well...
