Ultra short wave communication plays an important role in wireless communicationsbecause of its excellent channel characteristics and communication quality. It is widelyused in military and civilian fields. Non-central communication system is one of thetypical applications of Ultra short wave communication. Compared with traditionalintercom system, non-central communication system has scheduling function oftrunking system. It does not need the support of base station and also it is low-cost,flexible networking compared with trunking communication system. But non-centralcommunication system has limitations, for example, narrow channel bandwidth,communication frequency being not adjustable and narrow data bandwidth, etc.Thus, in this dissertation a low-power hand-held VHF communication platform isdesigned, which has voice communication and data transfer function of the traditionalnon-central digital intercom. The platform can change the communication frequencybetween30MHz and300MHz with12.5KHz voice bandwidth and2MHz datatransmission bandwidth. It is capable of forming an ad hoc network and the platformhas optimized human-machine interfaceThe structure of typical wireless receiver and hardware structure of digital intercomare introducedSecondly, overall hardware architecture of the handheld VHF communicationplatform is designed, function modular is divided, structure and function of everymodule is design, system interface definitions and constraints are given. We focus onthe design of the control and display module with low power design as the guideline andthe system circuit is realized.Furthermore, detailed circuit design of control and display module is given. Thedigital processing module and the RF transceiver module are briefly shown. Voltageconversion circuit parameters, main control program flow and subprogram flow chartare designed based on the demand analysis and outline design. In terms of PCB design,some basic rules are introduced from the aspects of laminated design, layout and wiring.Finally, test method is designed, the test platform is built and key performanceindicators of the modules are tested and analyzed. In this paper, a VHF communicationhardware platform is designed and implemented which can change communicationfrequency with2MHz data bandwidth and optimized human-machine interface.Development of this device enriches the ultra short wave communication terminalscamp and has certain reference significance for the development of future ultra shortwave communication terminal.
