China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., Chengdu Sichuan branch since itsestablishment in July28,1999, efforts to serve the information construction. At present,it has developed into one of China Mobile communication hub, and has completed theconstruction of tandem office center, soft switching center, CMNET data center andWAP center. The switch capacity, HLR capacity, the number of base station and carrierunit ranks first in the southwest of the provincial capital cities, and the mobile networkhas covered100%of administrative villages and national scenic area. The optical transmission network as the bottom basis network in the mobilecommunication network architecture, carrying voice, data, billing and other importantbusiness, but there are many contradictions in the resource management of the opticaltransmission network. Lack of resource information data such as geographical locationand the exact number, making the lack of the effectiveness in the basic transmissionplanning, contradicts with the requirement of the accurate network planning. Themassive maintenance information of pipes, cables, equipment relating to geographic arescattered in different departments and individuals, and the lack of effective managementcontradicts with the scientific management requirements of the optical transmissionnetwork. In this thesis, by researching of the geographic information technology combinedwith the mobile communication network in Chengdu, we can bring the geographicinformation processing and analysis functions into transmission network resourcemanagement system. Finally, we can establish an integrated system includingmanagement, maintenance, and query of the transmission network information. When the management system of the optical transmission network resource isestablished, first of all, the resource management can achieve higher standards on thesystematization, harmonization, standardization and timelines. Second, the system canprovide high reliability of decision support for transmission network constructionplanning. Third, we can improve the inspection efficiency of maintainers. At last, wecan locate the fault point to the nearest identified point such as the pores, boreholes, poles and connectors quickly, in order to reduce testing and location time.
