In the21st century, human society has entered the high-tech information age, computer information technology rapid development, human’s life and work has been affected and changed deeply. At the same time, our country social progress increase a lot, the national economic construction develops rapidly. Meanwhile, a large number of social crime also arise, and showing a long-range, high intelligence, high-tech features. This made an urgent problem to the public safety. Therefore, China’s Ministry of Public Security launched the "Golden Shield" project, proposed Science and technology police strategy, provide a large number of high-tech to the police work. Make the police work more technical and information. To incorporate geographic information technology and policing work, try to scheduling police efficiently in the original police force, increase the variety of crime prevention efforts and crackdown, to create a more advanced public safety system.With the passage of time and technical updates, Geographic information system has evolved from the traditional manual drawing into electronic drawings. And with the rapid development of computer technology and network technology, Geographic information technology, computer network technology are mutually fusion, formed the current distributed network data quantitative geographic information system. And this system almost covers every walk of life, has become a indispensable important decision software system. In the police information management platform, geographic information technology becomes an important component.This article selects the geographic information system design and development technology as the breakthrough point of the research, mainly studied the following content:Compare and summarize the advantages and disadvantages of the existing geographic information technology at home and abroad, finally selected the geographic information technology as the main research object of this articleAnalyze the details and needs of police information management platform and organizational structure, determine the geographic information system design and application, and spatial database established, this paper try to realize these two important modules. Finally achieved based on B/S architecture visualization strong geographic information system of efficient and safe and reliableThis paper completed county police information management platform based on GIS, Applied to the police work, implements the public information on the electronic map and spatial distribution of police information visualization display, and can according to the result of rapid analysis of geographic space information related, provide decision-making basis for policymakers.
