With the development of economy and the intensification of human activities, marine ecological environment worsens day by day, natural resources are suffering serious destruction, and ecological system structure and function have changed a lot. In order to realize the sustainable utilization of natural resources, protect the biological diversity, prevent natural disaster and control marine pollution in the ocean, it becomes important to investigate the background information of zooplankton which play an important role in the marine system, and to archive the data, as well as to analyze the corresponding parameters.As marine zooplankton species belong to various categories and morphologies, identification is more complex, and requires professional staff, the work of classification is intensity, and low efficiency. Till now, the data storage still retains in paper, and hard to query. Internationally, in some developed countries database of species composition and distribution in zooplankton have been designed, and the databases provide some references for the study of zooplankton. But there is lack of contrasting analysis of the different parameters. In addition, due to the geographical differences, zooplankton species composition, quantity and morphological characteristics, as a result domestic researchers need a related zooplankton database to query and compare quickly.Based on the necessary of the zooplankton database, this study developed a set of software which contained zooplankton species (including taxonomy, image, size), quantity (number, biomass). temporal and spatial distribution and environmental factors (temperature, salinity, chlorophyll). The software contains parameter query and comparative analysis, and can facilitate the zooplankton research department to archive, analysis and share these data.This study adopts B/S structure, uses Java and mysql technology, combines with struts hibernate to develop. This system manages the zooplankton data and uses line charts (jfreechart) to analyze sorts of factors and results. This system background allows managers to add, edit, and delete to facilitate extension.
