Recently, people pay more attention to the prospect of the application of using theacoustic technology to assay the wheat quality, as the boom of embedded technology,portable detection equipments with rich application, low-power, and low-cost will act as achief protagonist in future market. This thesis describes the hardware system design andimplementation for such a type of embedded instrument based on ARM9and DSP C6713.Based on analysis all kinds of the methods for the wheat hardness detection in the world,This paper introduce the prospect of the application of the acoustic technology to assay thewheat hardness, which is the direct requirement and basement of hardware platformarchitecture design.Embedded wheat hardness detection system is composed of threemodules: display and control module based ARM, data acquisition and processing modulebased DSP and communication module between DSP and ARM. This paper introducesmainly the hardware and software of the three modules. Hardware part includes the design ofthe peripheral chips of the embedded system based on ARM and DSP core as well as thedesign of the signal sampling and serial circuit.Software part includes the transplantation ofBootLoader and file system based on embedded Linux as well as the design of thekey device driver and development of GUI based on Qt/Embedded.The result of the system debugging showed that, the application of DSP+ARMarchitecture can meet the requirements of wheat hardness detection and have the promotedsignificance for food quality evaluation system’s establishment.
