In the production process of continuous casting, mould level control precision is one of theimportant continous casting production process indicators, directly affecting the quality of thefinal products. At present the molten steel mould liquid level detection system commonly usedmethods are: isotope radiation source method, eddy current method, electromagnetic method, theisotopes shoot source method is now widely used one of the ways, billet, round billet,rectangular slab billet, abnormity can be used, the isotopes shoot source method using isotopicradiation sources, using flash crystal receiving devices will change the height of the molten steelliquid surface into electrical impulses, through to the pulse frequency measurements (baudmeasurement system) to detect the liquid surface height. So frequency measurement systemdesign is very important, it is directly related to the molten steel level for the accuracy ofreal-time control. The traditional frequency measurement method, based on single chipmicrocomputer frequency measurement system can satisfy simple frequency measurements anddisplay function. This paper, based on the design of the FPGA and embedded system andfrequency measurement precision systems use FPGA, SOPC and embedded system, combiningcan not only will the results data store for inquires the, in the measurement speed and accuracyon also rises greatly.This paper introduces the mould level measurement system (baud measurement system)three layer structure, discussed the frequency measurement system hardware and software design,in view of the whole system structure of the need to complete function requirement andparameters requirements, discussed based on FPGA and frequency measurement precision ofadvantage, and kinds of the frequency measurement methods are analyzed, based on FPGAdesign of measuring frequency algorithm, such as frequency measurement accuracy in based onthe moving average frequency measurement method to implement the system hardware design,ensure that the system of precision and real-time. Using embedded system to accomplish the datapreservation, transmission and friendly interface design.In paper finally, to frequency measurement system test results were verified, it meet thedesign requirements.
