Vehicles are indispensable transportation tools in people’s daily life. With the continuousgrowth of car ownership, traffic accident, vehicle safety issues in China have becomeincreasingly prominent, which have related to the harmonious development of society, economicgrowth and other important issues. Moreover, the higher demand for automotive intelligent leadthe complexity of the monitoring information and communication task growing increasingly, thesystem also needs higher transmission requirements for the monitoring data, which has posed achallenge to traditional monitoring forms of the information. Therefore, for the purpose ofimproving the active safety, flexibility of monitoring system, the richness of the monitoringcontent, it is very necessary to study the comprehensive vehicle monitoring technology. The GPS/INS integrated vehicle information monitoring system designed and developed inthis paper was based on wireless communication technology, and used the existing vehicle bustechnology combined with the integrated navigation technology to achieve real-time monitoringof vehicle information. The monitoring system based on smart phone terminal used wirelesscommunication by combining bluetooth with GPRS, adopted self-designed multi-source dataexchange protocol, and then implemented the information fusion of vehicle speed, acceleration, altitude, latitude, longitude, other general information and fault diagnosis information. Specialdesigned vehicle information acquisition board fitted with the accelerometer, gyroscope inertialmeasurement devices and GPS module which constitute the integrated navigation system toimprove the accuracy and reliability of navigation; In addition, the vehicle OBD diagnosticinterface was designed not only to obtain the vehicle speed, ECU status and fault information, but also reduces the harness installation to avoid large-scale refitment of the vehicle. The system avoids increasing the vehicle interior harness, gets rid of the traditional locationlimits of the vehicle terminal fixed in a short distance area with greater flexibility, and achievethe monitoring form transition from centralized to distributed, It can not only monitor its ownvehicle status information but also inquiry the other vehicle’s location information, which meetsvarious kinds of demand for user. In addition, it is another innovative point that the GPS/INSintegrated navigation system was integrated into the vehicle information monitoring system inthis article. The experiments show that the comprehensive vehicle monitoring system monitorcan meet the needs for the vehicle information real-time inquiring very well with its rich content, strong mobility and high reliability.
