With the theory and technology of automatic control matures, the field of theapplication of UAV continues to widen, but how to achieve fast and accuratecommunication between UAV and the ground or other consoles has became a keyissue increasingly, and it is urgent to set up a dedicated communication link to meetthis demand. UAV data-link is a wireless communication system for the efficienttransmission of information by using a dedicated data formats and communicationprotocols, and it can be used as a bridge of communication between the UAV andconsoles. Within the field for civil use, the data-link has a simple structure and is easyto achieve, but it can only achieved point-to-point transmission, and the expansion ofthe network cannot be carried out, so to build a complex multi-UAV andmulti-console communication system becomes stretched.Therefore, the main work of this paper is to give a reasonable design for smallUAV data-link which can build a multi-UAVs and multiple-console data link networkafter referring to several typical data-link systems, drawing on their advantages andcontacting the study subject background, and doing in-depth study. Firstly, the paperintroduces the background and the development of data-link, then analyzes anddiscusses several typical data-link systems. Link series belonging to tactical data-Linkare introduced as well as civil GCS communication protocol, and we provide adetailed analysis of the structure and format of their message, the composition andconstruction of the network. On this basis, we firstly designs the network topologyand working methods of the data-link, gives some flexible networking solutions,studies some technical problems and then offers the design. And then the data-link isuniformly divided into five layers by function. They are the application layer,transport layer, network layer, data link layer and physical layer. And variousfunctions are well designed here, together we offer a reasonable standard data transferprotocol, network address assignment, channel shared and multiple accessed achieved by TDMA. Then, some operations of the small UAV data-link are designed as well.Finally, according to research in our laboratory, we build a simulation platform to testand verify the feasibility. At the end of the paper, we show the following direction andareas needed to be improved.
