With the fast development of scientific technology in the21st century, people’s quality oflife and health is increasing. At the same time, aging of population has become a globalphenomenon. As the demographic survey shows, China is entering the aging society. Alongwith the quickening process of aging population, lots of elderly people suffered from all sortsof chronic diseases, and health problems of elderly people also became the focus of attention.In addition, based on the demand of improving the doctor’s work efficiency in the hospital, italso makes remote monitoring system more and more attractive. Therefore, the design of aremote monitoring system is very necessary.Based on these problems and needs, we propose to design a3G embedded remotemonitoring system, which includes two parts: family monitoring terminal and doctorsworkstations. The system hardware is designed with low power consumption, small size, andintegrated for the patient to use easily; the software is designed with principles of reliabilityand robustness so that it is easy to extend for new features and modules.The family monitoring terminal is composed of the acquisition module of physiologicalparameters, embedded hardware platform and3G network module. And acquisition moduleincludes ECG module, oxygen module, blood pressure and respiration module. At the familymonitoring terminal, the patient can measure physiological parameters on their own,collecting one or more physiological parameters, and the data measured can transmit toremote doctor workstation through wired network or wireless network(3G network), so thatthe doctor can check the data and store it or other operation. The doctor workstation providesthe doctor with friendly interactive interface, connecting to the database, which can store anddisplay data coming from remote monitoring terminal, and can remotely administer theseterminals by sending control commands through network, so that can monitor the patientreal-timely.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. The hardware design and implement of the acquisition module of physiologicalparameters such as the ECG, blood pressure, oxygen, etc. 2. ARM embedded system software design, including ADC driver, network driver, etc.3. The software design of doctor workstation, and debugging the whole system.
