Research And Implementation Of MAC Layer Based On PMP Broadband Wireless Access System

At present, the MAC layer, which bases on the PMP broadband wireless access system,has a variety of implementation methods. According to the needs of the project, this paperchooses the IEEE802.16d protocols as the research object.IEEE802.16d protocols called WIMAX, is recognized as one of the four major3Gstandard globally. It has been able to become one of the3G standards, because WIMAX hasmany advantages. For example, larger distance of signal transmission, its wireless signaltransmission can achieve as far as50kilometers; ultra-high broadband access speeds, it canprovide access speeds of up to70Mbps. In addition, the WIMAX in foreign countrieshas gained a wide range of applications.The IEEE802.16d protocols contain the physical layer and MAC layer which isthe research and development of object. First, we will study the MAC layer protocol andextract the functional modules in the process, design and implement the program, includingthe classifier of the service specific convergence sub-layer, the scheduling, framing and framedecoding, network initialization and so on; then study the module division and the programdesign of the functional points Finally, we will implement various functions on Linuxand uC-OS operating system platform.In addition to discuss the design and implementation of MAC layer protocol, butalso complete the building of the WIMAX hardware experimental platform; introduce thestructure of experimental platform of WIMAX. This platform is based on the Altera SOPCtechnology, including a base station (BS) and two subscriber stations (SS). Porting thesoftware of MAC layer to the platform, debugging with the physical layer, and finally,implementing the broadband wireless transmission of multimedia information in the PMPmode.
