With the development of communication, all kinds of new technology emerge in endlessly. From stimulant circuitry phone firstly, to digital cellular phone, to 3rd communication network, they're all bringing convenience for people in life. Technology is always developing, and at the same time, the requirement of people is increasing. They aren't satisfied with server and bandwidth of present only voice and data, but hope to have more abundant multimedia server, such as living program, trading stocks on-line, ordering video and so on, and more higher bandwidth, supporting movement, so that they can enjoy modern communication network everywhere adequately. The future communication network will develop to intelligentization, broad band, wireless, etc.In order to promote the development of communication and make products compatible each other, IEEE constitutes unitive standard for broad wireless access WMAN——802.16, also called WiMAX. So that the products every company produces can be compatible and the price of them can be cut down. The technology can make transmission further, support more bandwidth, more abundant multimedia server than 3rd communication, and make use of frequency fully, extend easily, solve last kilometer well, and it is approbated widely.This paper discusses something about WiMAX, such as background, characteristic, predominance, application scene, development and so on. It also analyzes the theory of PLL, and basic knowledge, structure, synchronization styles, significance about clock synchronization in communication network. According to the requirement of newly mobile WiMAX for the precision of clock of base station, using PLL and software locking phase arithmetic, it designs and implements solution on clock synchronization based on mobile WiMAX. It provides ensurement for mobile station no interrupting server at high speed moving and switching successfully between base stations.The solution on clock synchronization composes with GPS,operation maintenance, software locking phase control. And the last one is researched specially, and some test data are given. This solution enough uses GPS 1PPS with good long time stabilization, OCXO with good precision, and fast, steady software locking phase arithmetic, and it outputs the frequency the protocol requires. By test, the clock precision of solution is better than the present, and the solution can make clock be into synchronization fast, stably, and has good performance, be in favor of the future network extending.
