With the continuous development of computer technology and the birth of geographic information system, comparing with the centralized model、the Client/Server Mode, Web GIS had become inevitable trend of GIS development. However, traditional Web GIS which was based on technology of CGI, Server API, Java Applets, SVG and so on has been far from satisfying people’s needs; Because service framework based on tile map technology employs pyramid model. The maps which were good configured were cut in accordance with certain rules, stored in the directory system. Dynamic map services can be replaced by map images. This model improved efficiency of map publishing, the display and user experience and so on. Ajax can achieve asynchronous request, preventing incessant refresh of the page, transferring some server work to the client, making use of the client’s processing power to mitigate the burden of server and bandwidth. Consequently, Web GIS which was based on technology of tile map come into being.Because of the rapid development of the transport sector, traffic accidents occurred frequently. Especially the safety of tourist bus and dangerous vehicles led to our country and relevant departments great attaching. So applying Web GIS which was based on tile map technology to the transport sector would be imperative to mitigate traffic problems, which was convenient to traffic management and control department.This paper described the overall architecture of the vehicle information service system which contains tile map technology、AJAX theory and the basic principles of Web GIS, and the composition of the various modules、key technology in-depth research. The main work includes:Firstly, this paper introduced the basic theory of tile map. It mainly contains four parts:the basic principles of the pyramid map tiles, Ajax rich client technology,3S technology, basic model of Web GIS system and so on; Secondly, this paper described the overall structural design of the vehicle information service system, including the background, design objectives and principles, Features introduction, platform options, platform architecture, the whole design of GIS service module and Web service module; Thirdly, detailed design of the vehicle information service system were researched, which mainly included the data layer, engine tier, JS API interface and internal implementation mechanism of JS API in GIS service module, three-tier design of the data access layer, business logic layer, and design of the system’s functions which included historical trace of vehicle, real-time tracking of multi-car in the tile map, vehicle cluster service and so on, based on the ASP.NET Web service Module; Finally, the functions of vehicle information service system were realized on the client, including map displaying, historical trace of vehicle, multi-vehicle tracking, cluster service, and demonstrated to achieve the effect and the results were analyzed. The achieving effects were demonstrated and the results were analyzed.
