The Analysis And Design Of The Browser Page Aided Reading System

In order to aid the users to read the foreign language materials through the browsers better, this paper proposes a browser page aided reading system. The system-can provide the users with accurate and timely aided information according to the users’ personal needs when the users use the browsers to access foreign language pages, through filtering, extracting and labeling text messages on the current page.This paper uses the method of software engineering. Firstly, we analyze the basic functional requirements of the browser page aided reading system, and obtain the data flow diagrams, data dictionaries and processing instructions of the system. We also describe the system by the data flow diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams and scene descriptions. Secondly, in the system design, we discuss the overall structure of the system and the class model. The system provides three main functions. On the one hand, when the users skim the foreign language web pages, the system can judge whether the current browser page contains the keywords, as well as the level and the group of the keywords that the users set in advance, and produces the keywords prompt information of the current browser page. The prompt information can help users get the level and the group of the current browser page quickly. On the other hand, when the users read the foreign language web pages, the system can insert the concise Chinese notes beside the foreign language new words in the current browser page through the vocabulary attributes that can be set in advance and changed in real time. The concise Chinese notes meet the needs of the user’s foreign language level, and help users reduce the difficulties because of the foreign language new words when they read, and improve the users’ speed and fluency in reading comprehension. In addition, the system can also provide the learning function of the foreign language new words encountered frequently recently.In the system realization stage, the paper discusses the possibility of the realization of the page aided reading system on Google’s Chrome browser extension platform. We finish the main functions of the prototype implementation. The prototype’s running speed is satisfied, we can not feel the delay of the display of the browser pages that caused by the plug-in unit extensions, so reaching the expected effect.
