High average power CCTWT is the key device of Radar system, which has greatinfluence on the working distance of Radar. Usually, the output average power is higher,the distance is longer. When the total efficiency is equal, the total power consumptionincreases with the output average power. So the capacity of heat dissipation is a keyfactor to restrict the increase of average power, especially for coupled-cavity TWT withPPM. How to improve the capacity of the heat dissipation of the slow wave line is themost difficult part in the design of high average power CCTWT.In this thesis, the coupled cavity slow wave line of high average power CCTWThas been analyzed. Then novel structures are explored and investigated for heat sinkcooling.The main results are as follows:1. A certain structure of CCTWT with1kW average power developed by BVERI hasbeen analyzed. And then, the measures to increase the average power of CCTWT areinvestigated in detail.2. Three structures which can improve the heat-sinking capability of coupled cavityslow wave line are brought forward in a creative way. Then, thermal analysis of thosestructures has been processed.3. The numerical computation of magnetic system has been done. Afterward, thosestructures of coupled cavity slow wave line have been optimized.4. One structure has been selected to put in practice. Use that structure, a certainCCTWT with2.5kW average power has been developed.
