When verifying the feasibility of the new communication system and theadvantage of the communication technology, we need to test the system in the actualchannel. However, this has the following drawbacks: affected by climate conditions, thehigh cost of test and can not be repeated. Fortunately,channel simulator can easily createa variety of typical channel environment, saving the human and materialresources.There are A variety of channel simulator which are extremely expensive. Inorder to simulate the environment of the channel in this project, I designed andimplemented a channel simulator based on the Software Radio Platform. It can providethe condition for the next project.All the work around channel simulator is based on the SDR platform. Lyrtech-SFFSDR platform is selected as system hardware which has the full processing power frombaseband to RF. The paper completes the design and realization of the channel simulatoron the platform, mainly divided into the following aspects.First of all, the relevant characteristics of the sum of sine wave method is not ideal,instead,we use the shaping filter method for flat fading channel simulation, directlysimulating from the frequency domain.Tap coefficients method is used to simulate thefrequency selective fading channel. in each part,we study the statistical properties ofthe envelope of the channel, the time dispersion characteristics of the frequencydispersion characteristics, the angle of dispersion characteristics verification.Secondly, a hardware implementation of the link is builded in the SDR platform,and also has been optimized.we build two links.One is a flat fading channelsimulator,which maximum doppler shift is610Hz, the other is a multi-path link whichmaximum doppler shift is152Hz due to resource constraints.By a lot of test, we foundthe statistical characteristics of the channel correct.Finally,most parameters of the channel simulator can be easily configured in theDSP parameters, including the number of multipath and doppler spread,the maximumDoppler frequency shift,the maximum delay spread and gain.
