Image acquisition system is widely used in remote monitoring, video conference and other fields. Image processing is an indispensable part of transmission system. Based on summing up and learning the forefathers’ research results, this paper offers a new design schema of image acquisition, compression and transmission system on S3C2410X processor using C/S structure. The server realizes acquisition, compression, showing on LCD screen and transmission of the image. The client realizes receiving, preserving, thumbnail display and simple post-processing of the image.This paper chooses SAMSUNG S3C2410X processor which uses ARM920T as the kernel. The server uses embedded Linux Red Hat operating system as software development platform. The client uses Windows XP operating system as software platform, gets image through WEBEYE V2000USB cameras and processes collecting image with JPEG lossy compression algorithm. The server display image on LCD screen based on FrameBuffer and realizes network transmission of the collecting image through TCP protocol and socket communication. The client uses VC++as programming environment to realize receiving, network connection and thumbnail display of the image data. User can delete, preservation and sharpen the image according to his need.This paper arrangement as follow:At first, this paper introduces background knowledge research purpose and meaning of this topic research. Then this paper briefly introduces the main research contents and chapters arrangement of the content, expounds the basic concept of embedded system related.Second, this paper introduces software platform, hardware platform, the overall design of the system and the main modules.Third, this paper introduces design and implementation of each function module, main including image collection on development board, image compression, image display, image transmission through Socket, the showing and processing of the image on PC.At last, this paper studies the content of the summary and put forward the outlook for the future.
