The Wireless Coverage Area Prediction is a primary function in Radio Management Information System. It directly influences the process of base station’s location selected, the electromagnetic compatibility analysis and the spectrum resource management carried on. The Wireless Coverage Area Prediction Algorithm’s studying and realizing can reduce much manual participation in prediction, save the time and increase the computation precision.Now there is much path loss of Wireless Coverage Area Prediction theoretic study at home and abroad. But it still has lots of questions to solve from the theory to concrete algorithm realization. In this article we will discuss Path loss models of Wireless Coverage Area Prediction Algorithm’s realization and the application in Radio Management Information System.The wireless coverage area prediction is the most important part in the design and implementation of mobile communication system. In mobile communication system, quality of service and capacity of the system determined by the cell coverage, this can get from the field strength propagation prediction.According to Wireless Coverage Area Prediction theory, it has brought forward construct function about transmission path. And based on this function’s approximately convergent characteristic, it has designed to reduce operation times and shorten the prediction time. It has built model base in dynamic-link library to save models to meet user’s requirement on expanding prediction models. By comparing prediction result to conduct experimentation with the measured data from user, it has verified the correctness and the validation of algorithm realization plan. And this paper describes how path loss model is chosen and differentiated for the Wireless Coverage Area Prediction. Some path loss models are not based on the empirical measurements collected, just only Okumura’s Model. It is developed by comparing the calculated path loss from collected measurements and against or with the well-known path loss models with applicable frequency range with cell coverage prediction method system. A new empirical model is developed from the Okumura’s model since the collected measurements by regression fitting method. Those path loss models are implemented in the path loss calculation during the validation process. Thus, the wireless communication coverage planning is the most important part in the design and implementation of mobile communication system. In wireless communication system, quality of service and the capacity of the system are detennined by the cell coverage which could be obtained from the field strength propagation prediction.
