To evaluate the ability of the substation trainee in accidents detection and troubleshooting, the research of substation accidents simulation has been done. Through collecting and summarizing the failure occurred in substation, the system proposed to simulate the fault phenomena from the static and dynamic aspects. The static fault phenomena is finished by modeling and rendering tools, and using rich materials and textures to achieve more realistic effects. The dynamic fault phenomena is finished by particle systems, in which the concept of force field is referenced and the particle properties are set to achieve more vivid dynamic effects. In order to evaluate the trainee more effectively and make the evaluation mechanism more flexible, the system allows the instructor to set the fault type and fault location arbitrarily. Meanwhile, in order to facilitate the trainees to operate in the virtual scene, the system provides two roaming way which are fixed path roaming and free roaming. And the fixed path is completed by the instructor in advance. In the three-dimensional fault scene, trainee can check and deal with the failure and finally submit to the database. The system gives out the test results and training suggestions automatically through VC++programming and databases processing. The system also provides a device inquiry function to make it more comprehensive, the trainees can query the substation equipment from the system according the training suggestion. The three-dimensional simulation system breaks the conventional way, and simulates the common fault in the substation from the three-dimensional point of view. The trainees can learn the skill of dealing abnormal and emergency through the system. It makes the trainee feel more realistic, therefore complete the assessment of trainees more effectively.
