LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the3G evolution technology, andimproved and enhanced the3G air access technology, also improvedthe performance of cell edge users, improved cell capacity, reducedsystem latency and could provide downlink100Mbit/s and uplink50Mbit/s peak rate for20MHz frequency bandwidth.Therefore, a set of LTE wireless communication system is going todevelop.The paper takes LTE standard protocol and Xilinx reference design asreference. Primarily uses its technologies such as OFDMA, MIMO, andbased on the embedded FPGA development platforms, designs a setof small wireless communication system using LTE technology. Thesystem includes resource mapping module, resource de-mapping module,channel estimation and equalization module for the physical layer.Resource mapping module is used to map data signals to thecorresponding time-frequency resources, and then send them out at thesending side. The resource de-mapping module is used to de-map varioussignal resources from the received data signals at the receiving end, and then send them to the respective processing modules. Channel estimationand equalization module is used to estimate the impact from the transmitchannel to the signal, then supplies the corresponding compensation,reproduces the real signal from the sending side.This paper focuses on the physical layer of LTE wirelesscommunication system. Firstly establish a Matlab simulation platform forthe system, based on it, make deep study and reserach on the physicallayer process, and do performance analysis of the channel estimationalgorithm, then select applicable channel estimation algorithm for thesystem. According to the simulation results, design part of the physicallayer chain modules, include resource mapping module, resourcede-mapping module, channel estimation and equalization module. Thenimplement on the FPGA platform. Debug and test results show that thedesign of the physical layer chain module can correctly do processing ofthe data signals, and receive data and send data efficiently.
