In recent years, with the rapid development of embedded technology and wireless communication technology, smart phones, tablet PCs, MIDs, digital photo frame and other intelligent terminal device has become more and more popular, they went into thousands of households and are changing people’s life gradually. The demands of video chat, remote monitoring and video meeting conveniently at anytime and anywhere by using the mobile terminal is increasing day after day. Therefore, how to provide a better service for capture and transmission video information has become the focus of major manufacturers who want to improve the core competition ability of their products. Android by virtue of its high degree of platform openness, standardized technology, perfect technical documentation and development tools has become preferred operating system by lots of intelligent terminal equipment R&D firms; on the other hand, comparison to traditional2G network, the3G communication technology greatly improved network bandwidth, shorten network delay, so it can better to support the image, voice, video and other forms of media’s transmission in network.The purpose of this paper is to design and implementation a video capturing and transmission system based on Android operating system and3G communication. The main work in this paper:(1) Discuss the general principles and implementation methods of video capturing and transmission system. Then we designed the overall hardware and software architecture of the system and analysis it’s feasibility.(2) To choose S3C6410SOC as main controller, select a CMOS sensor and an image signal processor as the image acquisition and processing system, as well as the man-machine interaction device and3G communication module to constitute hardware platform of the system.(3) Analysis structure and working principle of the Android operating system, focuses on the key technology of Android image acquisition, display and transmission, carefully designed software which include of Linux driver, Android intermediate layer function module and the JAVA application layer.(4) Study on the combination methods of Android platform and3G wireless communication networks; design specific scheme of image transmission method and the principle based on3G network and implementation in final.At last, we tested the overall function and working performance of the video capturing and transmission system which has been realized. Test results shows that, this system has perfect function, high reliability and strong expansibility, which completed the initial designed purpose.
