The time-variant effect simulation of natural scenes has always been an importantresearch field in computer graphics. And the time-variant effect simulation of buildingscenes is an important part in this research field. The technologies of time-variantsimulation of building scenes involve in theories and methods of computer graphics,virtual reality, materials science, mechanics, architecture, etc. The research of thistechnology not only plays an important role in computer graphics, but also has somereferenced value to materials science, etc.On the basis of summing up research results of time-variant effects at home andabroad, this paper studies and realizes the ways of global and local time-variant effectssimulation of building scenes. On the basis of model rendering effects, this paper comes upwith the material selection and matching of time-variant texture. And the simulation resultsof the time-variant effects can meet the requirements of reality. The main research contentand result summarized as follow:1. According to the structure of building and characteristics of building’s rendering,we adopt octree as the store way of surfels and render the model of buildings based onSurfels(Surface Elements) come up by pfister.2. On the basis of the model’s rendering methods listed above, we simulate thetime-variant effects of building scenes by the way of ray tracing. We design a way ofchoosing time-variant textures which achieves the selecting textures methods withoutmanual interference. We can automatically select the textures by this way.3. This paper studies the local time-variant effects of building scenes. We constructthe time-variant textures of building scenes by sample analysis, and render the appearancesof model by texture synthesis. We design a simple frame rendering solution and simulatethe local time-variant effect of building scenes.The simulation algorithms of time-variant effects of building scenes motioned abovehave been successfully implemented in the prototype system. The Simulation effects verifythe correctness of studied algorithms.
