Base station antenna, as one of the key hardwares in mobile communication system, is an equipment of transmitting or receiving electromagnetic wave in the radio system, and its quality has a decisive influence on the performance of the whole mobile communication system.With the improvement of people’s living standard and the development of electronic technology, mobile users increased rapidly, and people’s requirments for base station antenna also improved constantly, and now miniaturization, high performance, low cost, wideband and easy to integrate of base station antenna has become important factors which modern antenna designers need to consider.With the existing base staion antenna theory, a printed dipole antenna as the antenna unit, as well as the antenna array, feed network are designed, and base station antenna of high Gain and dual polarization in3G working frequency band (1710-2170MHz) is realized to meet the performance index requriments. The measuring results showed that:at the whole frequency band range, Return Loss S11and S22was less than-16dB, Standing Wave Ratio was less than1.5; Minimum gain was17.5dBi and the maxmum can get18.6dBi; Isolation was-32dB at the worst case; In the center frequency1940MHz, at the azimuth pattern Half Power Beam Width (HPBW) was32°and Sidelobe Level was less than-25dB, at the elevation pattern HPBW was6°.All the performance indexes met the requirments. This base station antenna can be widely used in long and narrow strip or highway, and it not only achieved the custom’s demands, but also reduced production cost and raised the economic benefit.
