Compared with conventional communication system, the spread spectrum communication system has some incomparable advantages such as anti-interference ability, good information hiding performance, multi-site confidential communication and so on.. The spread spectrum communication technology has been applied in military field and developed towards into civilian area recently. Now, this technology has become the universal standard of3G mobile communications.The construction of SS communication system is usually based on integration of the special chip, the typical high level integration chip is the Stanford Telecom STEL-2000A. Domestic haven’t high level integration of special SS communication chip due to the limits of manufacturing process and design level. As a traditional ASIC, STEL-2000A itself has some faults, such as function relatively fixed and upgrades difficulty. So based on FPGA to realize spread spectrum communication integrated chip has practical significance and long-term significance, there are a lot of related projects in our country.In this thesis, we do some relevant research on the principle of spread spectrum communication and its FPGA implementation, on that basis, the function of STEL-200A is modularized into several parts. Then, the VHDL code of each module is given, the core function of STEL-2000A is realized based on ISE10.1and Vertex-II FPGA chip at last.Test results show that the design of SS communication system accurately realizes the core function of STEL-2000A. We can improve the stability and performance of the chip or even reduce the cost by further timing constraints, area constraint and resource optimization. It could be an alternative of STEL-2000A either from the performance or prices; therefore it has directly use value.
