With emphasis on quality of life, low-carbon, green living become the commonvoice of man. Today, the vehicle plays a crucial role in the life; however, the problemof environmental pollution caused by traditional fuel vehicle has been criticized. Inthis case, the new energy vehicle such as the electric vehicle (EV) has arousedwidespread concern. As the fuel vehicle refueled in the gas station, the electricvehicles need to be charged in the electric vehicle charging station (EVCS). So, theconstruction of the electric vehicle charging stations is very important for thedevelopment and popularity of the electric vehicle.Different to the traditional gas station, the EVCS needs to communicate with theEV for exchanging the information in order to providing better services while the EVwas charged in the EVCS. With the mobile characteristics of the EV, the wirelessnetwork communication compared to the wired communication is more suitable forthe EVCS applications environment. The ZigBee technology is more suitable for theformation of centralized electric vehicle charging station wireless networkcommunication system while analyzing several common wireless communicationtechnologies.This article describes the advantages and technical characteristics of the ZigBeetechnology. Detailed analysis the ZigBee stacks architecture, and focus on thedescription of the each layer protocol functions and features. Besides, the articleintroduces the ZigBee protocol, network topology and security mechanisms.The routing algorithm selection and development is crucial while using theZigBee to build the EVCS wireless communication network system. The ZigBeerouting algorithm is not the best choice for the actual network environment of theEVCS by comparative analyzing the principles and characteristics of the two types ofcommonly used wireless network routing protocols. While the EV charged in theEVCS. While the whole charging process, the EV in a period belonging to the mobilenode, in the other time is a fixed node in the EVCS wireless network environment. So,it’s necessary to select a routing algorithm which is more suitable for the actual use environment.In this paper, using a new routing algorithm named AODVcsr routing which isimproved based on the AODV routing algorithm. AODVcsr routing algorithm has twocharacteristics. The first, the EVCS information which the users are concerned suchlike the grid electricity, charging pile idle status, queuing of information are send asthe “collateral data” with the route lookup information while in the route lookupprocess. The second, the routing protocol is switched based on the EV’s status while itis charged in the EVCS. That is, when the EV into the EVCS for charging or leave theEVCS while fully charged, the EV using the AODV dynamic routing to communicateand exchange information with the EVCS. When the EV is charging in the EVCS, theEV communicates with the EVCS using the static routing.By using the NS-2software simulate the AODVcsr routing algorithm and theAODV routing algorithm. We found that the wireless communication network usingthe AODVcsr has a higher data throughput, lower packet loss rate. Although thenetwork delay is long, it’s fully meeting the actual needs.In this paper, using the LabVIEW virtual instrument platform and TI CC2530ZigBee chip to establish a miniature model centralized electric vehicle chargingstations communication systems based on the above studies. And then, using themodel to simulate the communication between the EV and the EVCS in the wholecharged processed.The main content of this paper include the following aspects:First, verify that the ZigBee technology is very suitable technology to format theEVCS wireless network while select the appropriate routing algorithm.Second, this paper designed a centralized EVCS communication system model.The monitoring system of the EVCS provides the grid electricity, charging pile idlestate, and other information that the users current concern by the coordinator in thewireless network. At the same time, it monitored the operation status of the EVCS.Charge pile acts the router’s function in the wireless network. It manages the EVaccess to the EVCS wireless network and transmits information between the EV andthe EVCS.Third, in the paper a small-scale hardware experiment system was designed toverify the feasibility of the above system model. And it is will helpful for the futurelarge-scale experimental study.The design of the centralized EVCS communication system in this paper is operability, low cost and has a certain competitive advantage. It has a certainreference value for the future centralized EVCS communications system’s researchand construction.
