The harmonic pollution problem of the power system is severe day by day, and the people’s demand of power reliability and power quality is higher than before. Active Power Filter (APF) is an efficient, stable and flexible advanced mean for optimizing power’s quality, its application will play a significant role in improving the quality of power grid.To design and manufacture a220V/20A three-phase four-wire APF prototype, this paper carries out much theoretical researches, simulations and experiments. The shunt voltage-type APF has been analyzed in this paper, in terms of the working principle, the compensation characteristics, the harmonic current detection approaches, the current compensation strategies and the dc-link voltage control. By making use of MATLAB simulation software, the control strategies, the compensation performance and dynamic response performance of the system are analyzed.A220V/20A three-phase-four-fire APF prototype based on digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F28335is designed and manufactured. Parameters of the hardware and control algorithm of the prototype are designed based on the previous conclusions. The experimental results show that the device has a good performance with real-time detection and accurate compensation.
