With the increasing business of network, there’s more and more task about the management and maintenance of data center. Therefore, the priority which data center manager face is how to manage the business of data center effectively and improve the efficiency and security to gain better results.This paper analyses and studies the function and composition of the business management system of data center on the basis of its present situation, and. Then the article elaborates the origin and development of the information retrieval technology, Chinese word segmentation method, retrieval model, inverted index mechanism, the retrieval process, the evaluation index and other related knowledge. Based on the demand analysis of the business management system, it detailedly expounds the business process, function design and database design of the system. According to the research of the information retrieval technology and the users’needs to search the knowledge about the business management, the paper designs the information retrieval subsystem of the business management which takes the engineer log as its data sources.
