This topic is based on the Social Development Fund Project in Tianjin(09ZCGYSF00300)“Research of Speed Secure Real-time monitoring system for measuringtraceable calibration standards”. Following with the developing of computer vision technique,especially in Image Processing area, more and more people are concerned and support aboutthe Video Speed System. Video Speed System uses the knowledge of Computer Vision toanalyze and Proeess the video information of the objects, according to what the speed ofobjects was computed by means of lmage Proeessing. According to the highway scene, thispaper made a design and implementation of velocity measurement system by video based onDSP.This paper is to measure the speed of the vehicle. The detection and tracking of movingvehicle is implemented in case of a fixed camera, the useful information obtained by imageprocessing and the vehicle distance obtained by image coordinates to real coordinates throughthe use of camera calibration, according to the frame rate of the video to get interaural timedifference of two images, calculating the speed of vehicles, using DSP for fast data processing,to complete video speed hardware system design. This paper’s job is as follows:1、Study of several algorithms of the moving target detection and tracking, and analysis ofalgorithms, using the improved algorithm frame difference method, and by two-dimensionalcross-entropy thresholding method to achieve a rapid and accurate detection of moving targets.Vehicle traeking algorithm base on Kalman flltering, this method is able to extract a morecomplete outline of a moving target.2、Hardware system design is to complete the system design, including image capture,video decoder, video encoder. This article describes the basic structure of the DSP device andapplication characteristics and explains the basic principles of video signal processing, usingCCS software write the code, and enventually be verified.3、Using a camera calibration method, the single eye camera on the highway measure themotor vehicle mobile distance, and determine the location method. Using the lane coordinateas character point and according to the mapping relationship between image plane and roadplane, it can calculate from the image plane to the plane of the road map matrix, writerimplements detecting moving distance of vehicle and to get the speed of vehicle.
