With the telecom services and broadband services is growing recently, optical communication market is growing rapidly. Nowdays,there are two prominent features in the development of the optical communication:first, the ultra-long distance, large capacity and high rate is becoming the key part of the optical communication; second, optical network becomes more flexible and dynaic at all levels. In the past, the ultra-long haul optical communication system is built when making research on the optical communication in the laboratory. But because the constraint of the space and fund, the cost is too high. Accordingly, the fiber loop transmission experiment doesn’t have this problem, it can simulate the real optical communication, reduce the cost of the experiment, and bring a great convenience to the debugging and testing.There are several components in a complete fiber loop transmission experiment platform, such as optical switchs, optical coupler, lasers and the associated hardware circuit and software interface, which includes fiber optical loop control circuit and the optical switch driver circuit. Optical switch is a key part of the fiber loop transmission experiment platform, we can transmit the optical signal in the fiber optical loop by controlling the optical switch. Based on the loop control theory and practical in-depth research, the fiber loop control circuit, optical switch driver circuit and software control interface is designed and implemented. User can input data in the software control interface, data is sent via the serial port to the control circuit, the control circuit can generate four-way control signal. The control signal is sent to the drive circuit and through the modulation of the carrier in the circuit to drive the optical switch for controlling the fiber loop platform.The first chapter introduces the background and significance of the fiber loop transmission experiment platform. The second chapter describes the basic principles of the fiber loop transmission platform, the related optical devices and key technologies are also included. The third chapter consists three parts of the design of the hardware circuit and software interface. The fourth chapter gives the results and analysis by experiment tests.
