With the rapid development of information technology, especially the wild use of personal digital assistant, multimedia terminal, and the application of portable computers. The needs and renewal of the personal data communication technology have been promoted greatly.Upon the great advance of wireless telecommunication in recent years, the bandwidth is getting higher, the quality of services is getting better as well. Based on this, the services carried by wireless networks have been expanded from general voice and text to high stream-media services.Streaming media technology compression image and sound information, and then put it on the web server.Users download side watch and listen. As the new communication network system, Wireless Local Network (WLAN) is the evolution direction of the 21st century information technology.Compared to the wired-network, the bandwidth of the wireless system is more constrained, meanwhile, the wireless channel has higher loss and delay. What’s more, it has strict demands in the stream-media transfer process on bandwidth, real time feature and reliability. Therefore, streaming application faces several challenges when it comes to wireless environment. So it is valuable to do research on the stream-media transmission and display system in wireless LAN system. This thesis describes a stream-media display system which based on C/S model and DirectShow architecture, using RTP protocol to transmit data. Based on this system, the stream-media in IEEE 802.11 is tested. With analysis of the testing result, this paper proposed a plan to improve the transfer performance. The main tasks fulfilled by this thesis is summarized as follows:1. The architecture of Wireless Video Display System is designed, by introducing the Wireless LAN and the stream-media technology, and analyzing the transmitting characteristics of stream-media on Wireless LAN.2. Transfer the stream-media using the RTP protocol to encapsulate data by JRTPLIB. Design and implement a C/S model transmitting system based on Socket and RTP protocol.3. Analyze the mechanism of Filter Graph in DirectShow framework. Implement the development of the Filter and the display function of stream-media base on DirectShow technology.4. Test the characteristics of Wireless LAN base on the Wireless Video Display System; Upon analysis of the testing result, a new plan is designed for improving the transfer performance.
